Sarcev commented, “Absolutely shocking, heartbreaking news – that my former athlete Neil Currey passed away today,” along with several images of his former client. I’m speechless and overcome with sorrow and grief. I sincerely sympathize with his family, friends, and loved ones. Godspeed, Neil, and rest in peace.
A personal remembrance of the deceased bodybuilder was also revealed by Sarcev, who said, “My last/best memory of him was this smiling face after he won New York Pro and fulfilled his lifetime dream of qualifying for the Mr. Olympia.”
The business Hostile, with whom Currey had previously worked, expressed their sorrow at the bodybuilder’s demise and said, “We are profoundly grieved by the news of Neil Currey’s passing. When thinking about Neil, his commitment to his craft, eagerness to help teammates and others, positive attitude, and lightheartedness jumped out.
Currey’s demise was also reported by Generation Iron, a website that covers news in the fitness industry. His cause of death and the circumstances surrounding it are still unknown.
The bodybuilding world joined together to grieve Currey’s passing, and many people left comments on social media with their remembrances and feelings.
On Hosstile’s post, one individual who referred to Currey as their “coach” and “friend,” wrote, “I’m extremely sad. More than anyone else in my life, this individual had a big impact on me. I’m very heartbroken.
In response to the heartbreaking news, several industry leaders including Andrei Deiu, Hany Rambod, Dennis Wolf, and Iris Kyle expressed their sympathies.
When Currey started competing in 2017, it was how he started his bodybuilding career. He competed all around the world after making his IFBB debut in the Classic Physique contest two years later.
When he won the New York Pro in 2022 and earned a spot in the Mr. Olympia competition, he realized his ambition. Even though Currey placed 16th, the tournament took place late last year, and simply making it there is considered a significant achievement in the business.
