Ariana Grande and her husband Dalton Gomez officially filed their divorce papers on Monday.

The Grammy winner, whose divorce case is being handled by “disso queen” lawyer Laura Wasser, gave “irreconcilable differences” as the basis for divorcing her husband of two years.

In what was purportedly a well-planned concerted effort before the filing, Gomez quickly submitted his rebuttal. The pair has a prenuptial agreement, according to TMZ.

Their divorce was finalized on February 20. After a five-month engagement, the “7 Rings” singer wed Gomez in May 2021 in her Montecito home.

When The Times contacted Grande and Gomez’s teams for comment on Monday, no one responded right away.

Since the two-time Grammy Award winner started filming John Chu’s version of the Broadway musical “Wicked” in London a few months ago, the pair are said to have distanced themselves considerably physically.

The luxury real estate agent, 27, and the “Positions” singer, 30, have reportedly been “quietly and lovingly working on their friendship” since divorcing. According to insiders who spoke to Us Weekly in July, Gomez and Grande “have been having some issues for months now.”

“Before she left for the London production of ‘Wicked,’ they were having issues that they were unable to resolve, and the distance did not help. According to the US source, their separation and lack of contact make a divorce likely.

The “Thank U, Next” singer’s affair with “Wicked” co-star Ethan Slater was made public not long after Gomez and Grande’s breakup. Days later, The Times said that Slater quickly filed for divorce from his wife, singer Lilly Jay, with whom he shares a 1-year-old kid. The reason for their breakup may or may not have been influenced by Slater’s apparent connection with his co-star, but Jay told Page Six “My family is collateral damage.”

According to Page Six, when COVID-19 limitations were relaxed and Gomez was “taken aback” by the pop star’s demanding schedule, Grande and Gomez’s pandemic-era romance hit rough patches.
